Every time I walked into the basement I avoided this stack. There are 12 or 15 register covers in this pile, some with multiple pieces. I thought they were just black metal, and had even discussed spraying them a fresh coat of black. Yesterday, upon closer inspection, I notice that one of them had a copper scratch. With a little brasso (by that i mean miracle) and a box of sos pads we got quite the surprise..
